We at Lakeford School always give predominance to music. The music departments organize events to get the talents of the students showcased. Utmost care is given to training in vocal as well as musical instruments.
Students are given the freedom to choose any one instrument.
Western instruments: keyboard, guitar, western violin and drums
Eastern instruments: Mridangam, tabla and eastern violin
Special coaching is given to gifted ones by exponents in their respective fields. Lakeford has a fantastic student’s band.
The school has a Brass and Pipe Band that steals the show at special occasions and celebrations.
Students are given exposure to diverse forms of Indian classical dance, folk dance and western dance. They enjoy and improve their aesthetic skills in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam as wellasin various folk dances that are practiced in different parts of India. They are also taught western and contemporary forms of dance like Zumba. Students are given opportunity to exhibit their talents duringthe youth festival and various cultural events takingplace in the school. Dance provides ample opportunity for the students to dispel monotony they experience in the classroom hours: offers relaxation and improves concentration. Special training is ensured for the talented ones.
School days ought to be the most colourful days of one’s life literally as well as figuratively. Weekly classes meant for painting and drawing along with workshops provide the best platform for the students to discover and develop their taste for fine arts.
It is mandatory for every student to subscribe student edition of either The Times Of India or The Hindu. Students are encouraged to make reading a habit. It is a compulsory activity from class IV onwards. Newspaper reading creates a reading culture among students. It improves one’s language skills, broadens outlook, updates their general knowledge and creates a flair for language.
Every class is given an opportunity to conduct general assembly in turn. This nurtures confidence and self-esteem in children. Besides school celebrates all religious and national festivals I addition to environment day, children’s day, teachers day and so on which give them opportunity to display their talents. Education is incomplete without care for the physical growth and fitness. Bodily kinesthetic intelligence develops with proper exercise and sports. Lakeford provides excellent coaching on basketball, volleyball, skating, table tennis, handball, badminton, yoga, karate for girls and chess. Skating is the only item that’s optional for the students. The school offers running track, basketball court, and volleyball court. Sports is an integral part of the school activity.
